Duplicate contact groups (not contacts)

i have a problem with contact groups. I have literally hundreds of duplicatie contact groups and have found no easy way to remove them. I see others with the same issue going back to 2020 on various apple forums with no resolution.

Anuyone have any ideas other than getting a new contact manager which I have considered. Why has apple allowed that app to lanquish for so long without any meaningful update?

Note this is NOT about duplicate contacts. That is not the issue.

I have the same thing and also have many duplicate contacts in particular the Mr. or Mrs. gets replicated many times in a title for dupe contacts. Tried Cardhop too but both seem to choke on the sheer number of dupes and who has time to sort through it!!
