Where are the new files located? Are they in your Documents folder or scattered elsewhere like Library and its subfolders? I would be tempted to use Carbon Copy Cloner or a folder compare/sync utility and point it at specific folders.
I replaced a failing disk, restored files that were on the original disk to the new disk, some of which were synchronized with Box.com , a cloud storage service. The root of the Box files was called Box Sync. Most of these Box files are .pdf, .docx, or .xlsx; nearly none are text files.

Does anyone know a good GUI way to check a folder of files are the same across two Macs?
I haven’t found a good way of doing this. Is there a built-in solution or a better third-party one (eg. I have Setapp, if that helps on tool ideas).
If you have hundreds of files in a folder, manually comparing isn’t an option. And then you have those pesky hidden “DS_Store” files that need to be compared too!
