I see in my profile that you have apparently saved my credit card number (whch is fine, you are trustworthy folk), but I need to change it because I have a new card number. Can’t figure out how to do that.

Sorry for the confusion, @mnodulman! Paid Memberships Pro is trying to be too helpful. Your membership isn’t automatically renewing, so there’s nothing to update and no link to do so (the stored number, which is just the last four digits, is purely there for your reference). When your membership is close to expiring, you’ll get email from the system and can renew manually with whatever card number you now have.
If you had an automatically renewing membership, you’d get an Update Billing Info link (which goes to the Membership Billing page) in the Membership Details section of your account page.
