I just saw announcements for two products that look like they will be really great if they work as advertised:
HyperDrive Turntable Dock For iMac With 360° Swivel
This is a dock built-in to a swivel-stand designed to go under a 24" iMac. It integrates:
- SSD enclosure (up to 2TB of m.2 SATA or NVMe storate)
- HDMI output
- SD card slot (full-size and micro)
- One downstream USB-C port
- Four downstream USB-A ports
- MSRP of $200
This is a compact Thunderbolt 4 hub, that provides:
- Three downstream TB4 ports (that support daisy-chaining)
- 32 Gbit/s PCIe data, to support eGPUs and other high-bandwidth devices
- Internal 100W power supply (no external wall wart)
- Providing 15W power to each of the downstream ports
- Providing 96W power to the upstream host (so it can charge laptops)
- Pricing is still TBA, unfortunately
