Carbon Copy Cloner has added support for APFS snapshots and has a very good article explaining the feature that I won’t try to crib from.

I have not tried to test the Snapshot capability of CCC 5.1, but can deliver important good news about CCC 5.1 anyway.
I have a reasonably complex set of chained tasks which produce redundant multivolume clones (1 for off-site swap and 1 that stays local). On two separate systems, the task sets performed identically as before the upgrade. No adjustments were required.
So, in comparison with some vendor’s products, the additional capabilities are not paired with new bugs, omissions, or changes for existing uses.
