Bombich Software has released Carbon Copy Cloner 7.1 (CCC), embracing new macOS functionality that lets you avoid installing the CCC helper tool. Going forward, the helper tool will be “registered” with macOS but remain inside the CCC application bundle. Additionally, Full Disk Access is no longer required separately for CCC’s helper tool. The release updates the user interface in Settings > Advanced to specify the authorization requirements for a variety of CCC activities, adds support for wildcard and regular expression searches in the Snapshot Comparison Browser search field, fixes a logic issue in the Dashboard that prevented the “Shutdown if previously off” feature from working, and improves the recapturing of space savings on the destination when files have been duplicated on the source.
