Cannot share videos from iPad Photos app (but can from Mac using Photos app)

First, I have to say, trying to reach Zoom support is a complete nightmare. The worst I have ever encountered with any company. The chat support says my account doesn’t have live chat support. But I have the Pro plan which is supposed to. I tried phone support and they said my account doesn’t include live phone support and to use chat support. Just going in circles. It’s horrible! So I thought I’d come here.

Anyway, the problem I’m having is just this. I would like to share media - photos and videos from my Photos app - during a meeting.

There is no problem doing this on my Mac. But on my iPad I can’t find the videos. It’s not listed as one of the media types to share.

Anybody know if there a solution for this? I’m using iPad OS 18 and Sequoia.

It seems the workaround is to share your screen and play your video on your screen. It is strange that videos cannot be shared from the photo library directly on iOS or iPadOS, but photos can.

Another workaround would be to export the video in advance to iCloud and then open the video file from there.

I just tested sharing my screen in Zoom on my iPad, and I get this notice and it tries to do a recording. It doesn’t seem to “just share the screen” like on my Mac. It does a countdown and starts recording it seems. Is that what you are seeing as well?

I’ve never done it in a live session, but you posed an interesting problem, and I thought I would try troubleshooting it.

By the way, I have a special Zoom focus triggered by being in the Zoom app. One of its features is hiding notifications, except those from Zoom (and, on my Mac, a virtual camera app).

I have used Zoom on my iPad and yes, you give it “permission” to start broadcasting your entire screen, no matter what happens on it. It counts down and there you go. Similar on Teams.

Thanks, people. I just tested using share screen and starting broadcast. It worked fine and the other person could see (and also hear) my video that I played from inside the iPad Photos app on my screen.
