Apple Watch and implantable cardio defibrillator device

Has anyone had any experience with such devices? It seems that after my device was implanted, I can no long use the ECG app on my Apple Watch. Other things like Heart Rate seem to work OK. I replaced my model 8 with a model 10, and no joy! I suppose I can get along without it, but, sure would be nice to have. I’m an old dude, so no surprise that I have such thing?

I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work for an On Demand defibrillator. Even a pacemaker should show up with the ECG reader on the watch. What are you seeing? Did it work before the implant?

Yes, and it worked on a Watch 8, then failed on that. Apple Guru’s at store thought hardware or something. So, new Watch 10, did a Restore from previous. May have to try a “Start from Scratch” next. Just hoping someone had issue.

And the ECG app acts the same as it did on my new Watch 10. I am guessing that there is some kind of interference thing going on with the ICD. Sigh. Will get along without it I guess.

Question: Do you need the ECG app if you have an ICD installed?

Does the ICD maintain a log of events that maybe you can download into the Health app (via Bluetooth? Or Thread?) Or is that data only accessible via your doctor?

Oh yes, I now have a device that uses my home network and sends data that it collects to the doctor’s office. Probably via the device makers setup. So, not accessible directly by me! I am going to ask, however. I will know if the device really works, however. It was tested and I now know what it feels like. All things considered, it is an amazing piece of technology. So, no, I probably don’t need as ECG anymore. But, curious minds want to know, right?
