Starting with 17.6.0 and continuing in 17.6.1, when I go to update apps and tap on “Update All”, only a couple of apps update and I have to start over. In addition, I’ve had apps finish updating and move down to the finished area, however the button doesn’t change to “Open” but stays as “Update”. I’ve also had an app finish updating, move down and the button change to “Open”, only to have the app move BACK into the update area and the button change back to “Update”. Has anyone else seen this? This happens on an iPhone 12 and an iPad Mini 6.
I’ve seen this as well. But it’s purely cosmetic. If you just do nothing, all of the updates install.
If you exit the App Store and look at the icons for the apps, they all go through the usual animations and complete fine. And if you go back to the App Store afterward, it will show them updated.
Definitely file a bug report (through Apple Feedback), but under the covers, updates are still working, even though the status screen seems to show random changes while the updates are being installed.
Same experience as @Shamino here on my M4 iPad Pro. Never have i ever had to start over. The count in the upper right corner of the Applications app reflects the actual number of apps that have been updated, while the number in the updater includes apps that say “Open” which is around ten more. When I see a listed app change to “Update,” it’s quite temporary and simply tells me it’s about to start downloading. Just cosmetic change you can easily ignore.
OK, I submitted a report to Apple. Since I always would re-tap “Update All” or “Update” I never let it sit to see if it actually continued to update. I’ll have to check it out the next time I have a slew of updates. Thanks, David & Al!
I noticed this too! Annoying. Apple needs better QA testings. Or maybe they do, but don’t care. :(
