"Charles Hawkins via Tidbits talk"

@lbutlr
Has anyone noticed this (or similar) in Mail?

It seems that when Mail is adding mailing lists to the previous recipient it is attaching the name of the first poster it sees to that address, and including that name in the To header.

I think it is new in 10.13.

Removing the previous recipient doesn't;t help, though it will likely reset the name.

I'm assuming it wants me to add the mailing list to my contacts, which seems idiotic to me, but maybe I am missing something.

(I'm not picking on Charles, that's just what my Mail.app decided to do…)

Not new!!! I’m on 10.10.5 and it’s been happening to me for awhile. Not in all mailing lists though, just a couple of yahoo ones that I can think of. I’ve edited the name out of the address and it keeps coming back. It was a different name at some point than it is now.

It’s not happening with Tidbits for me.

Diane

The same thing happened to me for the first time yesterday. I’m still on 10.12, so it isn’t new to 10.13. I finally fixed it by right-clicking the address, choosing Remove Address and then typing in the email address manually. You can probably also edit it in Window—>Previous Recipients, but I wasn't smart enough to figure that out yesterday.

Both of these resulted in the behavior recurring for me, even clearing the entire previous recipients list.

Adding tidbits as a contact seems to have stopped it.
