mini display port to DVI (not vice versa)

Eolake Stobblehouse
I have a new 27-inch Apple display with mini display port, and I bought a used Mac Mini (to get the optical drive for DVDs). But the Mac Mini has a DVI port.
There are about 23 billion adapters for DVI to Mini Display Port, but they all assume that it’s the *Mac* which has the mini display port. I can’t find any adapter for vice  versa. Any advice?
(Why would this be so hard to find? I can’t be the only person in the world who wants to use a new display with an older Mac. Seems to me as likely as the other way around, but clearly I’m wrong.)

Yours, Eolake Stobblehouse

The problem is that it's not just a simple passthrough connector to go
from DVI into a MDP you need a converter, not just an adapter. I found 2:
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8913
http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-p-17859.html

I can't comment on the quality of either, although Gefen has a good
reputation (and is over double the cost of the Atlona one).

While this is all highly anecdotal of course, I for one would hesitate to recommend Gefen equipment at this point. They are the "name brand" choice, but I've had significant trouble with their converters and switch boxes, and have found their support - both technical and business - less than helpful.

I have no experience (yet) with Atlona equipment, though they're on my "Gefen replacement candidates" list, and I'd love to hear what luck others have had with their devices.

Cheers
