icons keep switching from home second screen to home screen

Bob Tallitsch
I am currently using Mac OS 10.12.6  My set up includes two screens - a “home screen” and a second screen set up to the home screen’s left. Up until yesterday my hard drive icons were set and always appeared on my second screen. Today, even after multiple reboots, various icons appear on my second screen and others (randomly - nothing consistent) appear on my home screen (the screen with my dock). My dock, however, remains on the screen where I want it - only hard drive icons and printer icons are randomly moving from screen to screen up startup or restart. I know there is a way to determine what consistently appears where but I’ll be darned if I can remember the trick. Can someone enlighten this old Mac user?

Thanks in advance

Bob

I am a teacher. A teacher is someone who leads.

I just love my students.
