iPad Mail

John Ferman-2
Is this an okay place to ask a Mail app question. If so, here goes or purge, if not.

I am in the habit of saving certain messages for future reference and have created a bunch of mail boxes named in ways that make sense to me. Well, about 22 months ago I saved a certain message that I know want to use - largely for the senders address, but the mailbox I created for this message (and a series of others) is now empty. Does the iPad iOS 10.x.x Mail app automatically discard messages? In the Mail Settings panel there is no option on such a feature.  Am I missing something?

Perhaps Tim Cook hopes that we shall have Mac Minis, at least, to keep our Mail organised; while being able to read on the go under iOS !
