iGoogle Replacement

Michael Curtis
Hi,

Now that iGoogle is going away I am looking for a replacement. I found iGoogle really handy as my home page. I had access to all the news I wanted, a few quick clicks and I had them all in Instapaper to read on my commute. Can anyone recommend a replacement for iGoogle?

Best wishes

Michael

It won't go away until next year about this time, so there's really no rush,
but did you read Google's recommendation to use Chrome @

I stopped using iGoogle a while ago. It wasn't really an effective way for me to look at my news. And I found it distracting when I wanted to do a simple search.

I've switched to NetNewsReader on my Mac and FeedlerPro on my iPhone. These use Google Reader to track my news items. I can sit back and read all of the news I'm interested in at once, and I don't have the issue with an item hiding on another page.

The limit is that these projects are just for news and don't include sudoku games, wacky definitions if the day, or other time distractions. Of course, that's one of their strengths: News and nothing but the news.

I enjoy lying on the couch after work and reading the news with FeedlerPro on my iPad.

Me too. I never use it, but my FIL does and likes having all his stocks right there in a widget on the home page.

OTOH, he has a year to find something else.

I seem to be the only person so far who likes it :). I realise it has a year to run, but I managed to lose my page so thought this was a good time to replace it.

Best wishes

Have you looked at my.yahoo.com? I used to use that, and rather liked it.

where is www.startific.com in your list?

A replacement would be nice indeed, but it can’t really match the original iGoogle and doesn’t really add value to your startpage... I feel it’s somehow a downgrade from the original iGoogle.
You you will enjoy the change, UPGRADE with www.startific.com
