Will Quicken 2007 run on 10.12?

Woodard Paul
Does anyone know if Quicken 2007 will run on 10.12? And yes I’m still running it and very happy with it and really really hope it does.

I called Quicken and they tell me that Quicken 2007 will not run on 10.12. I love Quicken 2007! I hate to give it up since the reporting in the newer versions have been really lacking. I've purchased Quicken 2017 for the mac but haven't installed yet. Before I install 10.12 I will install Quicken 2017 and make sure all the data is correct. Then I'll install 10.12 and see if Quicken 2007 works. If it doesn't, I'll have Quicken 2017 already setup and ready to go. (By calling Quicken Support I was able to get a big discount on Quicken 2017 base on the fact that I was using such an old version of Quicken.

Paul,

Have you considered using Intuit's online money management site, Mint.com? They acquired it somewhat recently and have hammered it into much better usability than it had when we first tried it several years ago. It's the same company (Intuit). We have been using it for about 6 months and so far, it has proven a very useful Quicken replacement for us.

I'm not interested in Mint. All of my account information in Quicken is offline. I don't have it connected to any of my accounts. I manually enter everything. That is the way I want it, which is old fashion but works for me.

Hi Zack,
Yes I have and there is no way I want to store my data in the cloud if I can help it. Especially after the Experian hack, I’d rather keep my data on my own computer.

Re: Will Quicken 2007 run on 10.12?

Woodard Paul
Although it looks like it will run in 10.13, come 10.14 it will not. Only 64 bit programs will run then and Quicken 2007 is a 32-bit program and you know they will not recompile it. So it looks like we have about a year to let Quicken 2007 go….

As I understand it what Apple has said is that in January 2018 new apps in the MAS must be 64 nit, all new apps and updates in June 2018; "in the future" macOS will not allow 32-bit app. I've seen nothing from Apple saying that 10.14 will disable 32-bit. It is most likely that 10.14 will warn users of 32-bit going away, but sure it could be sooner.

Either way, I cannot find anything that Apple has aid that 10.14 will not allow 32-bit apps, the closest statement to this is "macOS High Sierra will be the last macOS release to support 32-bit apps without compromise."

<https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=06282017a>

That certainly implies that 10.14 will continue to support 32-bit apps, probably like iOS 10 did by loading 32-bit libraries only when a 32-bit app loads and displaying a warning to the user.
