iOS 11.0.1 Fixes Mail Bug with Microsoft-hosted Accounts

Apple has released iOS 11.0.1, merely noting that it has “bug fixes and improvements.” However, in a separate note, Apple says this update resolves the issue with Microsoft-hosted email accounts detailed in “iOS 11 Mail Failing to Send with Microsoft-Hosted Accounts” (22 September 2017).

You can get the iOS 11.0.1 update, which is roughly 275 MB, in Settings > General > Software Update or via iTunes.

Those people who were participating in the developer beta of iOS 11 may need to delete the iOS beta profile in Settings > General > Profile and restart the device to get iOS 11.0.1 to show up.

Re: TidBITS: iOS 11.0.1 Fixes Mail Bug with Microsoft-hosted Accounts

David Ross

I wonder about all the other mail bugs.

Unreliable unread counts. Or very slow to get correct.
Very slow to update in general compared to previous versions.

And in general the entire phone is noticeably slower. To the point I have to pause and wait for apps to launch or change screens.

When I went from 10.x to 11.0.0 Mail crashed 4 times before successfully launching.

I DO have about 10 IMAP accounts with 600 unread total counts so yes, I'm a bit of an edge case. But my phone was fine before the update to iOS 11.0.x

iPhone 6s+ with 128gig.

So far 11.0.1 doesn't seem to change anything.

Re: TidBITS: iOS 11.0.1 Fixes Mail Bug with Microsoft-hosted Accounts

John Robinson-3
While running the beta and later, iOS 11 seemed to slow down trashing my emails. Today I switched my default email account from a gmail to a Comcast account. Trashing emails seems to have speeded up.
