Remove predicted word: iOS11

Jeremy Roussak
My daughter has managed, somehow, to acquire a text suggestion of “W.E” for “we” on her 6s. She’s finding it rather annoying. I’ve tried resetting the keyboard dictionary but it’s made no difference.

Any ideas?

Jeremy

You can remove ALL suggestions via Reset -> reset Keyboard Dictionary.

(Settings => Genreral => Reset => Reset Keyboard Dictionary)

Some 3rd party keyboards let you remove individual words, but I’m not sure which ones and they only can remove them in that keyboard, so it’s not really a solution.

I had same problem. The cure is nearly as bad as the disease.

A related annoyance is the keyboard shortcuts. I set up gm as a short cut for my email address but if I happen to be in uppercase mode it capitalises the email address. So I set up two more shortcuts, Gm and GM, but still the same thing.

Sometimes it’s the small things that annoy the most 😊

Try dictionary" /Users/yourusername/Library/Spelling/LocalDictionary

Iy is plain-text editable. It can be edited or added to. I used to spend more time maintaining mine, but Mac is not consistent in which dictionary its own apps consult. This one contains words I have added recently from within Mail. And of course, each user will have their own dictionary :-)

Cheers,

Alex

Can you do that on the phone too?

Diane

My Touch was substituting HED for “he’d”. It drove me nuts.

I finally found I had a contact called HED. I deleted it and it solved the problem.

(I have many more autocorrect issues though lol)

Thanks. I’ll get her to try check her contacts.
