Heos app for iPhone

Paul Brians
This post was updated on .
I was frustrated in not being able to reorder the favorite Internet stations in the Marantz SR 7011 HIOS/TuneIn menu, so I wrote Marantz about the problem. They responded by pointing me toward the HEOS app, which I installed on my iPhone 8+. Their directions called for me to click on the three white lines to the right of the station name in order to rearrange it.

But on the iPhone there are no white lines. Instead you can pull the station name to the left until a red “Delete” button appears. If you’re very careful you can touch and drag on this button to move the station in the list. But if you do it just a little bit wrong you delete the station from the list instead.

And the station which was formerly in the place you’re moving the new station into gets swapped into the new station’s original spot. No. 6 becomes no. 2 and no. 2 becomes no. 6. Very odd.

But it does make it easy to tune from one station to the other with the iPhone. One bitter reviewer in the iTunes store complained that he couldn’t pair his phone with the Marantz, but I had no trouble. I had already paired before installing the app and the list of favorites popped up immediately.

Just thought this might be useful information for other people with one of these receivers.

After another exchange with Marantz, I got the vital missing piece of information: in the app tap Music, then Favorites, then the pencil at upper right. The three white lines appear at right and you can edit and move your stations.
