Force-quit an app in iOS

Paul Brians
Facebook “froze” on my iPhone 8+. It wouldn’t let me go away from the photo I was looking at or access any menus. I called Apple support and was told to tap the Home button twice and swipe up. Evidently this is the standard solution for such problems. She speculated that Facebook hadn’t updated its software to deal with the latest iOS version.

Handy thing to know.

Then I recommend that you backup and restore your phone. This is not normal.

(I don't remember ever having to force-quit mail)

Apple broke AppleScripting signatures in Mail.app, so no random signatures.
