Film/slide scanning and multifunction printers

dianed143@comcast.net
Last week I plugged into my old (free from Apple) Canon Mx310 simply because it has a feeder and I had to scan a number of pages. I use VueScan.

Imagine my surprise when I changed to the feeder and also saw slide and negative as an option!

This morning I had a chance to look around. I don’t see much online about this. I don’t see a holder. I did put a strip of negatives in it, and was able to produce one mildly acceptable scan. The slide I tried was way too dark.

Anyone else have success with this? I don’t know if I’m up to date on VueScan but will check later.

I had a scanner many moons ago but it stopped working after an OX upgrade and I was never able to get it going again (SCSI issue).

My dad has tons of slides and it’s not too bad to pay for them now and then but at $20/roll it will sure add up in bulk (and I’m not even sure if the guy I last used is still around)

Thanks
Diane

I gave up trying to scan slides. I used a service SLIDESTODIGITAL LLC  www.slidestodigital.com  800-433-4189

I used them a few years ago. I sent off the slides and they returned them with a DVD with all the slides in jpeg. At the time i paid $0.27 per slide.

Highly recommended.

On my MP810, you remove the white “background” from the underside of the scanner lid. That exposes the fixture which holds slides and negatives.
