Apple TV 3rd gen and subtitles

Doug Hogg
Hi,

We have an Apple TV 3rd generation and subscribed to CBS All Access to watch Star Trek Discovery, but the subtitles are a disaster — many of them missing completely.

I am wondering if the new Apple TV4K would solve that issue. Anyone watching Star Trek Discovery with the new Apple TV4K?

:-)

I watched the first two episodes using a friend’s CBSAA account. The only subtitles are saw where for the Klingons, and they were badly done. With a poor font and went buy too fast and didn’t appear at quite the right times.

I’ve seen many complaints about the subtitling of the Klingon in the episodes, so if that’s what you’re talking about it’s a CBS issue, not an TV issue.

Yup…in the USA, subtitles are apparently a CBS issue.

Interesting…Star Trek Discovery can be watched on Netflix with Klingon subtitles in 188 countries (but not in the USA or Canada):

However English subtitles are supposed to be available in the USA via CBS All Access (and they are but really sporadic).

Maybe for our group of older Trekkies, I need to find out how to watch Star Trek Discovery on Netflix via a VPN or something since Netflix offers subtitles in “Arabic, English, French, and Polish” as well as Klingon.
