2 small bits of digital photography news

Mr. Seth Anderson
Two small bits of digital photography news a subset of the TidBITS universe will be interested in:

1. DxO purchased the NIK collection from Google
and will  resume development of the software suite (which I personally use on nearly every photo I process in my “digital darkroom”)
You still can download the current version in exchange for your email address.

2. The creators of FX Photo Studio Pro and other digital photography apps, Macphun are changing their name to Skylum Software, expanding their OS support to Windows, and are targeting Adobe (good luck!)
We now have a vision of bringing photographers a truly worthy Adobe alternative. We feel we are among the few companies who can achieve this goal. Adobe is a fantastic company and a well-deserved industry leader. We admire them and our products work within their architecture as plug-ins. But we also have a great team, our own proprietary technology, and the community support to make a dent in that Universe.
